Southern Maryland Restuarant Review - Mexico Restaurant
Mexico Restaurant
Hola! Welcome! This is what you hear immediately upon entering Mexico Restaurant, the new and festive dining spot appropriately located in Festival Way Shopping Center. Mexico Restaurant, an established chain out of the Richmond, Virginia area, boasts a lively, clean but comfortable atmosphere full of Spanish charm. Don’t let outside appearances fool you, this place is huge, with lots of booths and a full bar in the back.
The Mexico Restaurant chain takes pride in the fact that they serve only authentic Mexican cuisine, cooking all of their dishes in 100% vegetable oil so that their menu remains healthy, the way Mexican food should be. For those who aren’t well versed in the different food items that make up a traditional dish, the menu includes a complete glossary on the back. Making a decision as to what you’ll order could take a bit of time considering the extensive list of menu items.
They have the usual assortment of traditional items such as burritos, tacos, enchiladas, nachos, quesadillas, tamales and taco salads. But they also feature some unique dishes. The Plato Chile Authentico, two peppers stuffed with beef and cheese, the Vallarta, grilled shrimp, chicken and scallops with onions, tomatoes, pineapple and mushrooms, and the Mole Poblano, chicken breasts topped with mole sauce, were particularly inventive and tasty. Mexico also has an impressive list of steaks to choose from which helps when you have one in your party who doesn’t care for Mexican fare.
The long list of menu items also includes lunch specials, vegetarian specials, an A la Carte menu and several desserts. They feature a full bar menu with a long list of flavored Margaritas and a wide choice of Mexican beers. To warm you up, there is also a list of specialty coffees. The servers at Mexico Restaurant are energetic, friendly and eager to please.
