Italian & Greek At Its Best
About ten years ago, Greek restaurateurs Panagiotis and Cynthia Skaltsis purchased an already popular little pizza place called Napoli Pizzeria. Napoli has always been known for its special pizza sauce, which is a secret family recipe, their daily hand-made dough and their fresh assortment of toppings. But after the Skaltsis' purchased the restaurant, they added a Greek flair, which has put Napoli Pizzeria at the top of the list for lunch and dinner dining.
The restaurant itself is small and carry-out like but as soon as you walk in, the aromas coming from their visible kitchen will make your mouth water. The only problem with this restaurant is trying to decide what to order off a menu that puts these big brassy corporate fern bars to shame. My question is, "How do they manage to prepare this wide variety of food in that amount of space?" However it happens, we as the consumer are lucky for it.
Aside from one of the best pizzas you've ever had, and if you have time, eat it right there because it's best when it's hot from the oven, the Calzonie is excellent and the Stromboli, out of this world. The Calzonie is stuffed to the point of bursting, so don't eat a whole one yourself or you'll feel the same way afterward. Among their Greek specialties are Moussaka, The Chicken Souvlaki which I hear is a favorite among patrons and The Gyro. They make one of the best with seasoned lamb and beef, lettuce, tomato, feta cheese and the traditional Tzatziki (cucumber) sauce. A newer dish, in great demand is the Spinach Pie. A Greek combination of sautéed spinach and feta cheese wrapped in a triangle of filo dough. According to Cynthia, they only make a certain amount daily, so call ahead for those.
The DeHanas Team orders lunch there on a weekly basis and we never tire of the menu. There are so many choices. So if you're in the mood for Italian, Greek, a hamburger or a tuna sandwich. Napoli Pizzeria aims to please.
