La Tolteca
Restaurante Mexicano

Life is all about experiencing new things or trying something different to shake up your daily routine. Stray a bit away from the norm and you may be pleasantly surprised at what you will find. Discovering a great new place brings out the explorer in all of us. La Tolteca is one of those interesting, fun new restaurants that make you happy you took a chance and tried it out.
The idea for La Tolteca originated about thirteen years ago in San Jose De La Paz, Mexico. A group of friends and relatives opened the first one in Williamsburg, Virginia and then expanded to eleven more locations nationwide. What is unique about La Tolteca is that relatives or friends of the original owners independently own every restaurant. This ensures their commitment to serving authentic Mexican food.
Don and Donna DeHanas and myself visited La Tolteca for lunch last week at the suggestion of one of our readers. We were amazed at the steady flow of patrons and even more impressed that everyone was leaving with a smile on their face. Obvious proof of a pleasant dining experience. The food is excellent, the service is prompt and friendly and the atmosphere is bright and cheerful.
La Tolteca serves all the traditional Mexican dishes from frijoles to fajitas. It would be impossible to come up with a combination of your favorites that isn't already on the menu. They also have a vegetarian menu, an appetizer menu, a children's menu and a good selection of desserts. Their lunch menu is affordable and the portions are generous. Add a basket of complimentary chips and salsa to your meal and you are guaranteed to walk away satisfied.
Also available are a full line of beers, domestic and Mexican, and a variety of wines available by the glass or carafe. If your Mexican dining experience isn't complete without a Margarita, they have many flavors to choose from. Along with the traditional Margarita and Golden Margarita, they also offer coconut, lime, peach, raspberry and strawberry. Doesn't that make you look forward to your next "brain freeze"?
Visit Marcos, Rigo, and Guadalupe, the owners of your local La Tolteca soon. You and your family will be happy you did and so will the explorers in all of you. Open Monday through Friday 11:00 - 2:30 and 2:30 - 10:00, Saturday 12:00 - 10:30, and Sunday 12:00 - 9:00.
