Maryland Restaurant Review - The Tavern On The Village
Southern Maryland Restaurant Review - The Tavern On The Village
The Tavern at the Village Restaurant
Located in the heart of Wildewood in St. Mary's County, The Tavern at the Village Restaurant is one of the few authentic "white-tablecloth" restaurants in our area. Along with their lunch and dinner menus that change seasonally, they also provide a raw bar, an upscale bar and wine list, on and off-premise catering services and a monthly wine dinner.
The appetizer menu is bold in its diversity consisting of dishes like, Farm-raised Frog Legs, Jumbo Snails Sautéed in Garlic, Bacon Wrapped Veal Sweetbreads and Calf's Liver and Onions. The raw bar boasts a nice selection of freshly imported oysters from New Brunswick, Canada, Winnapaug Pond, Rhode Island, and Barnstable Harbor, Massachusetts. Also included in their raw bar selections are Tuna Tartare, Sushi Combinations and Oyster Shooters.
The entrees at The Tavern are complex and innovative and the menu changes from week to week to bring you the freshest products available. Their Fresh Fish of the Day is prepared crispy with a Sesame Scallion Sauce, and is roasted and stuffed with herbs and lemons. The Roasted Australian Rack of Lamb is served with goat cheese and a Roasted Plum Walnut Sauce. The ultimate "surf & turf" consists of an Aged Prime New York Strip with a Jack Daniels Sauce and Broiled Lobster Tail with Lobster Infused Butter.
For a special treat, make a reservation for one of The Tavern's monthly wine dinners. One Sunday per month, a local wine representative teams up with Food and Beverage Director, Harold Lee to create a five-course meal with a wine that compliments each course. It's a wonderful opportunity to have those "burning" wine questions answered by a professional.
